About the Author
Deb Gorman, owner of Debo Publishing, was born and raised in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. She still lives in her hometown of Yakima, Washington, with her husband, Alan, and their very smart German Shepherd, Hoka. Deb is a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, cleverly disguised as a wife, mom, grandmom, and author. Her purpose is to connect with God’s most beautiful and clever creation, the human family, using the literary talent and imagination God gave her. Her prayer is that as she journeys with you, together you will discover encouragement and redemption in your most important relationships.

No Tomorrows-A Novel for Today came about because of a question I heard.
“What would you do today if you knew without a doubt you would die tomorrow?”
It’s an old question that’s been kicked around for decades, but when I seriously put my shoes into its footprints, I found I could not answer it with anything other than cliches. Those cliches, like “Eat chocolate all day”, or “Do that last thing on your bucket list” didn’t sit well with me. I wanted a real answer, one I could hang my hat on—as one character in the book says. I suspected that my readers want a real answer for themselves, too.
Annie Lee, a typical suburban mother of four, is confronted with that question, and spends a harrowing twenty-four hours navigating the answer for herself. In the uncertainty of our times, this question is particularly important for us to consider. Perhaps we’ll agree with Annie Lee’s answer.

To trust without reservation that the people who cared for them would care forever. To not dread the unknowable or the unknown. To be unafraid.”
Deb Gorman takes an honest look at the age-old question: “What would you do if today was your last day of life?” No Tomorrows explores this through the lens of Annie Lee, who is a wife, mother, daughter, and friend. Annie seems to be a bundle of worry and nerves about bad possibilities of troubles that could occur to her family. Believing if she is organized enough and has enough fences protecting herself and her family, Annie is in for the ride of her life when events around her throw her life into utter chaos. A strange phone call from Ellen, Annie’s best friend, begins a string of events that terrify Annie and send her spiraling towards mental instability. “Annie was unable to stop her mad descent into the same unreasoning fear she’d suffered all her remembered life, that the other shoe would drop soon and wrench everything good out of her breath and being. Except it wasn’t exactly unreasoning. She’d been here before.”
Is God trying to speak to Annie, or are other voices threatening to drive her to the loony bin?
I would recommend this novel for mature readers. Because of the subject matter and a bit more gritty detail, I personally would have liked to have seen a trigger warning.
Much of the story is either part of Annie’s memory, her imaginations, or visions. Annie is a rule-follower, a fence-builder, looking for safety. Her best friend, Ellen, is a rule-breaker who is consistently telling Annie that she needs to lighten up and live life to the fullest, instead of hiding from every imagined evil. Is Annie willing to let go of her supremely-planned out life and the fears she holds dear, or will she be forced to go through life wishing for an escape, yet dreading death, the sure ending promised all people?
